CHRIS DICKMAN

Chris is an eminent ecologist and an Emeritus Professor in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Sydney. He is the recipient of dozens of major grants and awards, including New South Wales Scientist of the Year and a Discovery Outstanding Researcher Award from the Australian Research Council. Based on his decades as a distinguished researcher, he was elected to the Australian Academy of Science in 2018 and inducted as an international fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2023. He has written, co-written or edited over 20 books and over 400 scientific articles and is regularly invited to speak at conferences worldwide. His ecological research in the Simpson Desert in south-western Queensland is among the longest-running field research programmes in Australia, with uninterrupted surveying since 1990.
