As you might guess from his name, Jean-François hails from France, where he received his B.Sc. in biology (University of Besançon) and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in zoology (Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle, Paris). He has held postdoctoral research fellowships in France and Germany, researching the genetics of African and Eurasian rodents varying in size from mice to beavers, and began working with Tasmanian devils and spotted-tailed quolls in 2013. His fieldwork experience spans four continents and more than two decades, and he led TCC’s fieldwork program for several years. His future focus with TCC will be laboratory-based, collaborating on conservation genetics research with our research partner lab at the University of Cambridge.
