As you might guess from his name, Jean-François hails from France, where he received his B.Sc. in biology (University of Besançon) and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in zoology (Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle, Paris). He has held postdoctoral research fellowships in France and Germany, researching the genetics of African and Eurasian rodents varying in size from mice to beavers, and has worked with Tasmanian devils and spotted-tailed quolls since 2013. His fieldwork experience spans four continents and more than two decades, and he led TCC’s fieldwork program from 2014 through 2016. His current focus with TCC is laboratory-based, collaborating on conservation genetics research with our research partner lab at the University of Cambridge.
